As President and CEO of MAGNET, Ethan Karp brings his wide range of experiences to drive economic prosperity in Northeast Ohio through innovation and invention. Prior to focusing on building the future of Ohio from its strength in manufacturing with MAGNET in 2013, Ethan advised Fortune 500 companies to innovate and grow with global consulting firm McKinsey in Cleveland. Ethan is a trained scientist who spent many years trying to uncover how the brain works while attaining a Ph.D. in Chemical Biology from Harvard and undergraduate degrees in physics and biochemistry from Miami University. Ethan volunteers his time on the boards of Cleveland Leadership Center, Cleveland/Cuyahoga County Workforce Development Board, Midtown Cleveland, Congregation Shaarey Tikvah, Mandel Jewish Day School, and the Jewish Education Center of Cleveland. Most important to Ethan are his 3 young girls and wife in Beachwood.
Michael O’Donnell has more than 30 years of experience in engineering and manufacturing consulting. Since joining MAGNET in 2000, he has helped companies with lean, operations, and product development challenges. O’Donnell has also played an instrumental role in developing new consulting methods, training simulations, and workshops for use in a variety of businesses, and he continues to champion continuous improvement and total quality programs across Northeast Ohio. O’Donnell holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan as well as an MBA from the University of Richmond.
Over the past 16 years, Matt has developed outstanding skills in both the private sector and nonprofit industry, growing organizations through innovative and engaging marketing, sales, and fundraising campaigns. Matt now leverages those skills and experiences in his role as Vice President for External Affairs for MAGNET: The Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network. In his free time, Matt is an active social entrepreneur: he is the founding Board President of EDWINS Restaurant and Leadership Institute, Cleveland’s first nonprofit restaurant and one of the first of its kind nationally; founder of Cleveland Codes, one of the nation’s first nonprofit software
As the VP of MAGNET’s Startup Services division – the Iterator –Brandon Cornuke leads the company’s efforts to help innovators turn manufactured product ideas into growing businesses. He specializes in strategy development, business model design, and lean innovation. Prior to joining MAGNET, his professional path included starting a successful consumer products company, building a corporate innovation group at American Greetings, leading a half-billion dollar consumer electronics business at Target Corp, and consulting with Hitachi’s global IT strategy group. Brandon has an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and is also an Adjunct Professor of Design and Innovation at Case Western’s Weatherhead School of Management.
Autumn Russell has spent the last 15 years developing strategies and programs that provide professional development opportunities and resources to students. Prior to joining MAGNET, she managed education reform strategies at the Ohio Department of Education, developed student programs in the local school district, and coordinated student development programs at local colleges. As the Executive Director of MAGNET’s Early College, Early Career (ECEC) program, Autumn facilitates collaboration between manufacturers, local school districts, and community colleges to grow the manufacturing workforce and create career pathways for Northeast Ohio high school students. Autumn holds a bachelor’s of science in organizational development, master’s in education administration and programming and a certification in career pathways leadership.
Mike Pintz is a Senior Mechanical Engineer with MAGNET and is responsible for the technical quality of work delivered by the engineering team. With more than 25 years engineering experience with MAGNET, Mike has been responsible for the design and management of numerous projects including customizing automation equipment, designing over the highway truck suspensions and CNG fueling systems, modifying military vehicles, and launching new product developments from ideation, through prototype development, into production. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Cleveland State University and his expertise includes 3D software design (Pro-E, Acad, Solidworks), as well as fabrication and project management skills.
Adam Snyder joined MAGNET early in 2019 to lead the Manufacturing Sector Partnership for Cuyahoga County. Adam came to the team from his role as President of Artwall, a local manufacturer of art for major ecommerce retailers. Since graduating from Case with a BSME in 2002 and an MEM degree in 2003, Adam has also run a large plastics manufacturing site, a regional consulting firm, and a marketing firm/contact center in prior roles. Adam is on a number of boards at Case, multiple privately held manufacturing companies in Northeast Ohio, and ACCESS – a homeless shelter for women and children in Akron, Ohio.

Bob Schmidt has over 30 years of hands-on experience in diverse manufacturing environments. Since joining MAGNET two decades ago, he has been responsible for the management and delivery of various growth services for NEO manufacturers and fostered rewarding partnerships in Wayne, Ashland, and Richland counties. He was previously employed as an application engineer by Eaton, where he developed and tested new technology for high-performance automobile engines. Bob holds a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Cleveland State University.

Reed is an experienced marketing and strategy veteran that understands the role of marketing and sales in growing manufacturing organizations. As a marketing and sales advisor with MAGNET, he helps small and mid-size manufacturing companies that are not happy with their rate of growth. Reed helps clients conduct market research, develop branding and go to market plans, launch new products and services, create sales structure and accountability, implement CRM systems, and develop new distribution channels. Prior to joining MAGNET, Reed was a partner at Caxton Growth Partners, where he leveraged his 25+ years of industrial manufacturer and distributor experience with companies such as Rockwell Automation, Parker Hannifin, and numerous companies in metalworking, fluid power, welding, electrical, plastics, and construction products. He holds an MBA in Marketing from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management and is a certified Blue Belt Coach for New Product Blueprinting.

Matt Sinclair is a growth advisor and relationship development strategist with nearly a decade of experience serving clients. Prior to joining MAGNET, Matt spent seven years with a global consulting and services firm serving global and local clients of varying size. During his consulting career, Matt has served the resources, products and healthcare industries with specific focus in chemicals, mining, forest products, agriculture and food & beverage. He has dedicated his efforts towards operations, manufacturing and digital supply chain, as well as led programs in innovation, third party and contract manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma, digital customer experience and engagement, growth and strategic planning. Outside of MAGNET, Matt actively engages in nonprofit leadership. He is the incoming president of the Rainbow Babies and Children’s Foundation Associate Board and an active partner at Social Venture Partners.

Joe has over 30 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, working as an engineer, manager, and general manager. An engineer by trade, Joe’s specialty lies in automation equipment and machinery. Joe knows processes and systems and has demonstrated the ability to manage projects from early ideation phases, to prototype development, and into full scale production. Joe is also a strong business manager, having been responsible for setting and achieving business objectives, managing a P&L statement, and managing plant floor operations. Joe holds an MBA from Lake Erie College, and a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from Cleveland State University.
As the Market Leader for MAGNET’s Southern Region and an Innovation Growth Advisor, Darlyn McDermott leads the Southern Region efforts to help manufacturers benefit from our services. She also helps build the brand in the market place, often serving as the local leader and boots on the ground for MAGNET. In addition to public speaking, meeting with leaders of manufacturers, delivering client work and building a pipeline, Darlyn also specializes in strategy development, lean, leadership coaching and risk management. Prior to joining MAGNET, her professional path included division and regional leadership for 6 of the top 10 largest insurance companies as well as risk management manufacturing client work for 2 of the largest brokers in the world. Darlyn has a BA in Psychology and holds a Masters in Business in Organizational Management. She is a Bryn Mawr Chartered Leadership Fellow and a Green Belt in Six Sigma and is a DBA in Organizational Management.
