Students Sharpen Skills at Hire Hustle Day

Hire Hustle 7Forging the Future: Celebrating MAGNET's 40th Anniversary

On April 29-30, the energy was high at MAGNET as 33 students from 12 local high schools arrived dressed for success and ready to seize opportunity at Hire Hustle Day. Representing schools across the region—John Marshall, New Tech West, Garfield Heights, Rhodes, JFK, Euclid, Brooklyn Heights, and Warrensville Heights—these students came prepared with polished resumes, professional attire, and an open mindset.

This capstone experience was the culmination of Elevate 12, a powerful program designed to prepare Cuyahoga County students for career readiness through immersive experiences. From mock interviews and resume workshops to plant tours and manufacturing demos, Elevate 12 students engaged in hands-on learning that helped them envision—and pursue—a future in advanced manufacturing.

One of the Hire Hustle Day highlights was the financial literacy workshop led by the program's sponsor, Citizens Bank, where students explored money management fundamentals like saving, budgeting, and credit. One student shared, “One of the most valuable experiences was the ball activity, learning about credit and how to use your money.”

Participants also had the opportunity to interview with Towards Employment for MAGNET’s ACCESS to Manufacturing Careers program, a three-week paid training program that serves as a direct pipeline into well-paying jobs and continued workforce development.

The feedback spoke volumes. One student noted, “...Everyone was wonderful and genuinely spoke from the heart about their jobs.” Staff echoed the sentiment, underscoring the importance of authentic industry engagement and student empowerment.

With community partnerships, thoughtful programming, and real-world experiences, MAGNET is proud to help Northeast Ohio students take the next bold step toward their futures—one handshake, one resume, and one hustle at a time.
