Job Summary:
MAGNET has high ambitions to grow and scale its Early College Early Career (ECEC) Program throughout Northeast Ohio over the next few years. With 3,000 openings in advanced manufacturing in our region, MAGNET is answering this question through this revolutionary youth pre-apprenticeship program. ECEC is an innovative approach to workforce development and revitalizing STEM education.
First, since this is driven by employers, we are developing new partnerships between companies, high schools, and community colleges that have never existed before. Second, we’ve created ECEC with inclusion and diversity in mind. MAGNET provides all the support services, including transportation and mentoring, that the students need to start their careers in manufacturing.
The goals of the ECEC program are to grow the manufacturing workforce in Northeast Ohio through a work-based learning experience for youth, preparing them for careers in the advanced manufacturing industry upon high school graduation.
Accordingly, we are looking to strengthen our ECEC department through the addition of a talented individual to support the growth and development. The ECEC program successfully launched in the Fall of 2017, and now with seventy-five (75) graduates between twelve (12) high schools and having assisted ten (10) manufacturers with developing their talent pipelines, we are growing our team to effectively support the next phase and continued growth.
The Mentor will be expected to provide mentoring, coaching, advising, and support to ECEC high school interns.
We are looking for a high-energy candidate to build on recent momentum and assist with expanding our ECEC impact. S/he should have experience in mentoring this population.
