Dear Friend,

I’ve shared with many of you that while our building and playground were under construction, children from the neighborhood would stand at the fence and cheer on the construction workers. Now the fences are gone, the building is open and the playground is full. Even as the days are darker and colder, we can still hear the squeals of joyous children as they swing, slide and run around Heroes Park. I’m uplifted to be providing such a meaningful, play-filled location for the community’s youth.

The good news doesn’t stop there, though. Since we opened our doors last month, we’ve hosted dozens of outside organizations for meetings, filled our largest-ever ACCESS to Manufacturing class from people who signed up at the Community Open House (see the story below), and even more technologies and tools have arrived to help MAGNET better serve regional manufacturers.

With Thanksgiving upon us, I want to again offer ENORMOUS THANKS to all of MAGNET’s donors and supporters – whether you support the building or our programmatic efforts. Your belief in our vision and our ability to have lasting impact on our community is enormously powerful. Together, we are working to ensure the next generation of Northeast Ohio is stronger than the current one.

Open House Drives Largest ACCESS Class

Building off the excitement of MAGNET’s Community Open House, November's ACCESS to Manufacturing Careers cohort was the largest  since the beginning of the program in 2020.  More than 25 individuals started this four-week training program to launch their careers in manufacturing, and nearly one-third of the participants were introduced to the program through the Community Open House!  Our 20 ACCESS employers cannot wait to hire these individuals who complete training in this and future cohorts!

Community Gives New Building Warm Welcome

On October 28, friends, family, supporters and clients celebrated the Manufacturing Innovation, Technology and Job Center at our Community Open House. The event garnered nearly 1,000 visitors who shared genuine enthusiasm and gratitude for the new life of the former Cleveland Metropolitan School District building, and looked forward to the future the opportunities the MITJC will bring their family, friends and neighbors. To Those Who Raised the Walls

Manufacturers, foundations and individuals donated $13 million to gut and renovate the former school that is now MAGNET’s Manufacturing Innovation, Technology and Job Center. This project, which will help raise awareness about manufacturing careers for 3,000 students annually and allow MAGNET to better share advanced manufacturing technologies with area manufacturers, is truly a collaborative effort.
