The vision set forward by The Blueprint for Manufacturing in Northeast Ohio inspires all of MAGNET's work. The Blueprint identifies four pillars: Talent, Innovation, Transformation and Leadership.

Spring 2023 Update

Dear Northeast Ohio Manufacturers, Supporters and Champions,

Launched nearly two years ago, the Manufacturing Blueprint for Northeast Ohio laid out plans for our region to become a leader in smart manufacturing. Every day, MAGNET strives to advance the four pillars - talent, transformation, innovation and leadership - and we are grateful to work alongside incredible partners as we collectively prepare for the future of our region.

A few highlights of this year so far include:

TALENT

  • More than 1,200 students have experienced manufacturing during a hands-on visit through the building, and we’re preparing to welcome student interns and hundreds of summer campers.
  • Early College, Early Career graduated its largest class to-date with 27 students! The philanthropic efforts dedicated to building this and many other talent development programs has garnered national attention, including here, in this Washington Post article.

TRANSFORMATION

  • Area manufacturers are taking technology adoption seriously, with more expressing interest in new technologies than ever before and our Operations and Engineering teams having more than 40 Industry 4.0 projects completed or underway this year!

INNOVATION

  • Case Western Reserve University, MAGNET and nine other area organizations partnered to secure a planning grant from the National Science Foundation to advance sustainable manufacturing practices.

LEADERSHIP

  • Our event spaces and conference rooms are busting at the seams as we’ve hosted more than 250 meetings and events with manufacturers, foundations and companies, and taken thousands on tours to see technologies in action. Let us know if you’d like to have a meeting.
  • Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to interview Ferragon Corp. owner Eduardo Gonzalez about his history, expertise and manufacturing insights at The City Club of Cleveland. Some of our ECEC students joined us!
  • Heroes of Manufacturing Park is buzzing all day! Community Liaison Lamar Abner is connecting with Hough neighborhood residents and keeping the playground a safe, clean community asset.

WHAT'S TO COME? SO MUCH, INCLUDING:

  • The relaunch of the Annual Manufacturing Survey (June)
  • Our partnership event with Lorain County Community College, Transformation to Automation, on June 2
  • Our June 21 Lean Implementation Training Webinar with Operations Master Black Belt Richard D. Wiltse
  • Mspire 2023: Applications for our annual pitch competition for manufacturing-focused startups are accepted beginning July 1, with the competition on September 21
  • Monthly community open houses and manufacturing plant tours, including today's event from 4:00p-6:00p at our headquarters

Stay tuned for inspiring stories from manufacturers and partners as we roll out additional content to celebrate the Blueprint's two-year anniversary!

As always, thank you for your support,
