MAGNET has high ambitions for growth over the next three years, and this will require a strong front-end to our sales pipeline. Accordingly, we are aggressively strengthening our marketing department in a number of exciting ways: we’re currently engaged with an outside vendor to conduct a Brand Strategy exercise, we have recently implemented a new marketing automation platform (Pardot) to accelerate our client outreach, our Board is reaching out to potential clients in an extensive and unprecedented Customer Discovery process, and we have expanded our digital marketing and use of SalesForce significantly. Now, we are bringing in a new Director to lead our marketing efforts.
This individual will work closely with business development staff, as well as external parties, to run all marketing activities and generate productive leads for our Growth Advisors. S/he will be responsible for managing vendors, engaging the media, ensuring the quality of our brand, executing events, and overseeing the daily activities of our Communications Coordinator, in addition to generating content.
We are looking for a high-energy candidate to build on recent momentum and expand our marketing impact. S/he should have a proven track record of trying different approaches and launching new ideas and initiatives. This individual will be very comfortable leading by doing—given our limited resources, all leaders here must be willing to get their hands dirty! The role may at times require, for instance, taking photographs, managing detailed logistics, conducting interviews, drafting copy, and many other tasks necessary to the success of the organization.
Leads and maintains the overall marketing strategy; serves internal customers of Business Development and Growth Advisors in coordination with MAGNET’s Management Team to attract and serve more manufacturers
Develops and publishes impact metrics, including a regular marketing dashboard to be reviewed with CEO and Executive Team
Establishes and maintains working relationships with key media, pitching ideas and generating regular media attention; drafts and publishes periodic press releases celebrating all of MAGNET’s core activities (Growth Advising, Workforce and Talent Development, and the Incubation Center)
Develops program collateral (pamphlets, brochures, presentations) for all 3 departments as needed; working with GAs and others to develop, host, and publish webinars, podcasts, blogs, and articles; maintains brand integrity (logos, style guide, templates, etc.)
Manages vendor relationships to ensure, for example, the smooth functioning of the website, effective search engine optimization (SEO), full use of our Google Grant, sufficient support for marketing automation, etc.
Maintains overall responsibility for MAGNET’s brand, including periodic refreshes to look and feel, providing shared templates for documents, and assuring all MAGNET-branded communications conform to our brand integrity
Oversee and directs efforts of our Communications Coordinator, who is responsible for automated outreach to generate leads for Business Development (i.e., Pardot); ensuring sufficient data volume and integrity (Salesforce); providing support for BD and GA outreach; and working with clients to gather material for success stories
Runs MAGNET events (4x per year), sharing responsibility as appropriate; leverages such events as opportunities for networking, increasing publicity, and extending MAGNET’s brand
Interviews manufacturers, staff, etc., to learn of industry trends and highlight successes—will have the pulse of manufacturers, including using codified messaging and brand language
