The strategy to achieve this vision?

Bringing Northeast Ohio’s manufacturing power to bear in three key focus areas that drive long-term economic transformation:

  • Innovation and Commercialization
  • Workforce and Talent
  • Best-in-Class Services and Programs

Through impactful resources and sector partnerships, MAGNET is able to empower regional economic growth and inclusive competitiveness, resulting in job and revenue growth for Northeast Ohio. Since 2010, MAGNET programs in product development, innovation and workforce development have led to significant economic impact.
Manufacturing is Critical to Northeast Ohio’s Economy
Manufacturing employs more than 1.25 million people in good-paying, technically skilled jobs ranging from basic production to engineering and beyond. MAGNET seeks to drive and accelerate manufacturing growth through best-in-class services and effective partnerships.

Driving this growth means applying the strength of proven programs and models with the power of the region’s deep resources. Combining collaborative partnerships with an array of regional stakeholders, MAGNET brings the power of the region to innovate, produce new products and processes, adapt new technologies – such as additive manufacturing (3D printing), and rise to meet the challenges of growing and sustaining a 21st Century workforce.

Manufacturing is:

  • 14.4% of region’s employment
  • 8.1% growth in employment since 2010, with 20,000 new jobs created from 2010 to 2012
  • 18.7% of Gross Regional Product (GRP)
  • 40% of Ohio’s manufacturing employment
  • 1.6 times more concentrated in Northeast Ohio than elsewhere in the United States

Already a leading economic driver, manufacturing can also be a significant growth area for the region’s economy, with deep impact and assets in industrial sector investment, supply chains, research & development, and higher education.
