Youngstown State University and MAGNET Sign Cooperative Agreement Designed to Boost Mahoning Valley Manufacturing

Agreements Commit Institutions to Work Cooperatively and Jointly  to Help Manufacturers Pursue Innovative Growth Strategies Through MAGNET’s PRISM Program

PRISM LogoYoungstown, Ohio—April 24, 2013—Youngstown State University (YSU) and the Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network (MAGNET) today announced that they have signed a cooperative agreement that will enable small to mid-size manufacturers in the Mahoning Valley to gain easier access to the research capabilities, hard assets and world-class knowledge and technological capabilities based at YSU and four other institutions of higher learning in Northeast Ohio.

The agreement commits YSU, Cleveland State University, Case Western Reserve University, Lorain County Community College and the University of Akron to further economic development in the region by helping manufacturers pursue innovative growth strategies through MAGNET’s Partnership for Regional Innovation Services to Manufacturers (PRISM) program. Public and Private Organizations Join Together  to Highlight the Importance of Manufacturing in the Buckeye State

City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County and MAGNET Announce Winners of Manufacturing Innovation Project

Small and Medium Size Manufacturers from Cleveland and Cuyahoga County to Receive Technical Expertise Services from NASA Subject Matter Experts to Solve Technical Challenges with Their Products and Low Interest Rate Loans from the City and County

May 23, 2012 Press ConferenceCleveland—May 23, 2012—The City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County and the Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network (MAGNET) today announced the nine small and medium size Ohio manufacturers who were selected to receive assistance from NASA subject matter experts and low interest rate loans from the city and county to solve technical challenges they face with a new or existing product. The winners were announced at a news conference held at MAGNET headquarters by Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and Cuyahoga County Executive Ed Fitzgerald. $450,000 in Loans to be Made Available to Small and Medium Size Manufacturers Located in the City of Cleveland or Cuyahoga County to Solve Technical Challenges with New or Existing Products Utilizing NASA Subject Experts

Cleveland—January 3, 2012—The City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, NASA Glenn Research Center and the Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network (MAGNET) today announced a program which will allow small and medium size manufacturers to use the services of NASA Glenn subject matter experts for free and obtain special low-interest loans from the City or County—to help solve technical challenges they have with one of their new or existing products. Northeast Ohio Winner of White House Jobs and Innovation Accelerator Challenge

Economic development groups bring presence and assistance to the Mahoning Valley

MAGNET Partners with NorTech to Receive $285,000 Federal Contract from Manufacturing Extension Partnership

Funds will provide services for regional manufacturers transitioning to advanced energy industry.

Cleveland—October 5, 2010—The Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network (MAGNET) has been awarded $285,000 by The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Manufacturing Extension Program (MEP). This contract is for a new one year regional pilot project to assist small-to-mid-sized manufacturers that want to grow their business by entering the advanced energy value chain, specifically in biomass/waste-to-energy and electric vehicles. New Product Development Loan Recipients Named

Twelve Local Entrepreneurs Awarded $470,000 in Latest Round of Funding Designed to Generate Jobs and Attract Private Investment

Cleveland—July 29, 2010—The Cuyahoga County New Product Development and Entrepreneurship Loan Fund, administered by MAGNET, the Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network, today announced the 12 local awardees, selected from 40 eligible applicants, to receive $470,000 from the latest round of funding from the program.
